We asked a collection of our players why they would recommend The Steppe Alliance below are their answers
A new player's voice and ideas are heard as equal as a veteran player's, there is always someone there to help you find your feet in whatever part of the game you wish to bite into, including faction and world plot.
We also got magic out the wazoo.
We don't hate on any playable races as I think we feel ones actions speak far louder than where they were born. We are unified by our Tennant's. One of which is keeping balance, It's about ensuring the land is free and our spirits are free to make the choices and actions that keep light and dark in balance.
The land doesn't belong to anyone, our structures are not permanent, we don't like permanent things. People do not belong to anyone, so we do not accept any form of slavery. Every voice holds power, no one person is 'more important' than the other. It's this which makes us an incredibly close family, that will endeavour to make sure anyone who goes to battle with us, even if they are not from the steppe, comes home with us. When you are offered hospitality you become part of this family.
People are the most important resource, knowledge and skills can be stored for many generations and passed down to all, and should be for knowledge coveted, will be knowledge lost.
“One of the reasons I joined the Steppe was the feeling that as a new player or a new group you could still have an immediate impact that appealed to us.
Perks of being a smaller faction I guess, but when you combine this with the inclusive nature of the Steppe and the family feel, it means you can hit the ground running so to speak and straight away feel like you are an important part of the faction, rather than just a number.”
"A majorly inclusive faction in character and out of character, have fun talking about whacky ideas or juat having a drink in the yurt, something for everyone.”
“I am a new player (2 events!), and I think the answer for me is 'opportunity'.
The faction has felt incredibly welcoming and keen to get me involved. The team and the players have taken a moment to look at, and discover, how I can best interact with the fiction and have given me the chance to do so. If potential and opportunity for impact is your vibe, then I think this is a great place to be.”
“The steppe is a (dis)functional family. All members have the same weight behind their voice. All can speak and vote.
On a deeper level, it is a commitment to the balance of the spirit, land and mother. Its the light in the dark, and dark in the light (balance).
The faction, whilst smaller, is easily shaped by its players, from veterans to new players. There's less fighting to have your voice heard.
As a collective, it also works to help people access parts of the game that requires money - sharing resources, helping people afford rituals etc”
“The Steppe for me is a place where everyone has a voice and a part to play and where I have rediscovered my love and passion for the hobby.”
